Wicker Park.

Today we ventured out of our comfortable Hyde Park cocoon to check out the Renegade Craft Fair and the Bongo Room in Wicker Park, which is north of the loop (downtown).

Nate drove because 1. Getting there by public transportation would have required taking three busses and 2. I have no desire to ever, ever, ever drive in this city.

We had a delicious breakfast at the Bongo Room (recommended to us by Rachel, Nate's sister). Nate had a chorizo burrito (not pictured). I ate this:

We both drank very tasty blackberry grapefruit mimosas. Accompanied by coffee and water, of course.

Posting this picture is really just an excuse to show off my new necklace from my dear Smother:

After breakfast, we waded through streets filled with skinny girls with messy hair and boys in tight pants and loafers with no socks to get to the Renegade Craft Fair, which was awesome, but very, very crowded. I'm still glad we went and we learned a very valuable lesson about Chicago today: Wicker Park is too cool for us.

  1. Wicker Park sounds interesting ... but too cool for Chicago's newest city kats? harr-umph!

  2. I wonder if the South Loop location of the Bongo Room is less cool??
